Miz Thang is a folk artist from Hawkinsville Ga. She has two teenagers and two dogs. She has always liked to doodle and several years ago, with her kids getting older and more independent, her "doodling expanded into larger, more complex pieces. "My art and poems usually reflect my past experience, current events, my heroes and sheroes, and my dreams." Miz Thang usually has an idea for the subject matter of a piece: she actually never really knows how it will end up. She will usually start the piece hang it up for a few weeks and finish it when the time is right." I give a lot of my art away and usually tell the person they are taking a little piece of my home with them." With Miz Thang her folk art is straight from the heart.one of my son's favorites. Miz Thang has a master's degree in special education from Georgia College and is currently a high school teacher, teaching special education. Miz Thang is very prolific in her work and has taken to the NY crisis in a big way with her angles and flags.she is very positive about our country and has raised money through her art to help the cause.
MIZ THANG'S FOLK ART
All of my art is original and made exclusively by me, th thang. My wooden cut outs r usually cut from cabinet grade birch and then sanded. I paint with acrylic paint and house paint and sometimes coat my pieces with shellac. I dont use brushes but prefer to paint exclusively with my fingers. when my fingers r in th paint i feel connected to my pieces and feel i am passin along some of my special brand of mojo to u. I also use objects I find and that people give to me. Most of my pieces contain a message-sometimes funny, sometimes serious, depending on me. I hope my art brings brings a smile to ur face and some sweet mojo into ur life!
